Cute and easy side table art

Hi there!

I haven't posted in a while but I've had some free time to catch up on my crafts. I was pratcing my painting skills on a small canvas that I have and I decided to keep it, but I wanted to jazz it up a bit, so I added some more art to it, here's how I did it.

I painted a word on the canvas

I drew some butterflies on some old scraps of paper that I had

(Here is a template that you can use)

(Here are the butterflies that I drew)

I then folded the butterflies in half and hot glued them to the canvas

Bantu knots out- Single twist vs two stand twist

Bantu knots can be a super cute style to wear, but how do you achieve your perfect bantu knot out? There are a few different ways that ladies do their bantu knot outs,  here are my results with doing single knots, and two stand knots
Here are my single stand bantu knot out results
(you can see my step by step here)

Here are my results for the two strand twist bantu knot outs

As you can see, the results are very different for the single twist vs. the two strand knot, the
single gives me a longer "wavy" knot the double stand give me more of a tight "curly" knot

Product Review - Vegetable glycerin

Ladies,

Here is a review on vegetable glycerin since I have had a few people ask me about it. I have added this to my regimen in my deep conditioner and in a spritz and I LOVE the results! It makes my hair soft and it just feels amazing; I have NO idea what I was doing before I added this to my regimen. For those that don’t know how veggie glycerin works here is some info...

It is a humectant which means it pulls moisture to your hair helping to keep it moisturized. So that means that in humid weather, it will attract moisture to your hair, but in dry air it will take moisture from your hair. I use it in my DC's and well as in a spritz with water and a few drops of Rosemary oil shaken together.

Product Review- Almond Oil

I love incorporating natural oils into my daily regimen so I always switch it up and try something new. This time I tried 100% Almond Oil and here are my thoughts on it. I found the oil a bit heavy for me so I only use it on wet styles (bantu knots or buns) I also use it in my deep conditioner as this is the time to get in your hot oil treatments. The oil has little to light scent and is very moisturizing. I did add it to my body lotion and I LOVED the way that it made my skin feel. I purchased mine from a local small natural store, but here is where you can get it.

By 30, you should have ...An article in Glamour from 1997

This was shared to me by a friend of mine and its true!
The original article can be found here

By 30, you should have ...
1. One old boyfriend you can imagine going back to and one who reminds you of how far you’ve come.
2. A decent piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in your family.
3. Something perfect to wear if the employer or man of your dreams wants to see you in an hour.
4. A purse, a suitcase, and an umbrella you’re not ashamed to be seen carrying.
5. A youth you’re content to move beyond.
6. A past juicy enough that you’re looking forward to retelling it in your old age.
7. The realization that you are actually going to have an old age -- and some money set aside to help fund it.
8. An email address, a voice mailbox, and a bank account -- all of which nobody has access to but you.
9. A résumé that is not even the slightest bit padded.
10. One friend who always makes you laugh and one who lets you cry.
11. A set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra.
12. Something ridiculously expensive that you bought for yourself, just because you deserve it.
13. The belief that you deserve it.
14. A skin-care regimen, an exercise routine, and a plan for dealing with those few other facets of life that don’t get better after 30.
15. A solid start on a satisfying career, a satisfying relationship, and all those other facets of life that do get better.

By 30, you should know ...
1. How to fall in love without losing yourself.
2. How you feel about having kids.
3. How to quit a job, break up with a man, and confront a friend without ruining the friendship
4. When to try harder and when to walk away.
5. How to kiss in a way that communicates perfectly what you would and wouldn’t like to happen next.
6. The names of the secretary of state, your great-grandmothers, and the best tailor in town.
7. How to live alone, even if you don’t like to.
8. Where to go -- be it your best friend’s kitchen table or a yoga mat -- when your soul needs soothing.
9. That you can’t change the length of your legs, the width of your hips, or the nature of your parents.
10. That your childhood may not have been perfect, but it’s over.
11. What you would and wouldn’t do for money or love.
12. That nobody gets away with smoking, drinking, doing drugs, or not flossing for very long.
13. Who you can trust, who you can’t, and why you shouldn’t take it personally.
14. Not to apologize for something that isn’t your fault.
15. Why they say life begins at 30

Hair dryer review

Per the request of Marie here are hair dryer reviews!

Indirect heat (Hooded hair dryer)
Great for warp setting, partial drying, flexi rod sets, deep conditioning
My recommendation: Hot N Hotter Salon Hood Dryer (get it here)
Review: I really love this dryer and I’ve had it for about 2 years with no issues. It has four different heat settings and I use it mainly for DC’ing (deep conditioning) with a plastic cap as well as for flexi rod sets. It heats evenly and rather quickly compared to other hair dryers that I have tried. To use simply sit it on top of a table and move the chair under it! It’s by far the best hooded dryer that I have used.

Direct Heat (Hand held dryer)
Great for straightening hair during the drying process
My recommendation: Andis 82105 Ceramic Ionic Stlyer Hair Dryer (get it here)
Review: This is my go to for my heat passes (straight hair days monthly) and I have never nor will I ever purchase another hair hand held dryer. It comes with 3 different attachments, a small comb, a larger comb and a brush. Since I have a finer hair texture I use the smaller comb, but if you have medium to thick hair I would recommend using the larger comb. I have found the brush attachment to be ineffective for myself so I do not use it. This dryer has 3 different heat settings Low, Med, high and I blow dry on low or Med never High! I also really like this because it’s ceramic which means that it help lock in natural oils. For straight hair I would recommend using this to blow dry your hair.

Note: Please remember that anytime that you are using heat on your hair to apply a bit of heat protector, my favs are
  • ·         CHI Silk Infusion
  • ·         Silk Elements Olive Heat Spray

A trip to child hood

When I was younger my sister and I used to attend summer camp for several summers. As I got older I always wanted to visit to see if it was still there? Did it look the same? I was just dying to know so I took a trip to the small church turned day camp during the summer to see if I could find it and I did. It was nice to go back and see things that I adored as a child and re-live memoires of summers past. Here are some photos that I took when I was there.

This was the corner store where I had my first rainbow popsicle

This was the camp (its no longer a camp now)
